In Which Amy Ellen Shares Where We've Been and What We've Been Drinking, plus a giveaway!

So, did you have a good Mother's Day? Can you believe it has been that long since I posted last? I can hardly even remember my Mother's Day. I don't want to say that we've been busy... everyone is busy. Really, it's just that life is full. There isn't one big thing claiming all our attention; we are just seven people living very full lives. So, where have we been?

  • There was the annual Strawberry Picking.
  • There was the day-long Church Picnic.
  • There was the trip to the zoo, in incredible Atlanta heat.
  • There have been plenty of weeds to pull, and other assorted yard jobs, in the incredible GA heat.
  • There have been a few trips to the pool.
  • And there have been various social engagements, parties and gatherings... most involving outdoor activities in the incredible heat and humidity.
  • (And, of course, there is a great deal to do indoors as well, but that doesn't really fit in with what I'm going to say next.)
Earlier in the Spring, the kind people at Ultima Replenisher contacted me to see if I was interested in some of their Sports Beverages for review and giveaway. My first question was: "What's in them?" After I was satisfied with their natural ingredient list, I said: "Sure, I'll give them a try!" Little did I know how much we would benefit from them...

Because we get really thirsty working and playing under the hot, hot sun!

The line of Ultima beverages claims to be "the only 100% natural, non-GMO, gluten free, sugar free, dye free electrolyte beverage on the market." Electrolytes for Health Conscious People. They are sweetened with stevia, which, in my opinion, is a pretty good natural sweetener when used in moderation

I was given Kids! Ultima Replenisher, which is a pediatric electrolyte formula, as well as a sampling of the flavors available for adults: Orange, Grape, Lemonade and Wild Raspberry.

The children love their Raspberry flavor. It keeps them going (or maybe anything would since they're kids and all, but at least I don't have to worry about dehydration as they keep going).

My husband also enjoys it while doing his extra sweaty jobs in the yard. It keeps him going (or maybe he is so determined that he would keep going anyway, but at least he doesn't get that infamous after-yard-work-dehydration-headache). Replenishing lost electrolytes is good. Especially when you can do that without sugar or other artificial ingredients.

There is plenty of heat left this summer... Would you like to win some Kids! Ultima Replenisher and a sampling of the regular Ultima flavors as well? Enter to win by leaving a comment on this post telling me about your favorite summertime outdoor activity. I will randomly select a winner on Friday, June 11th at noon EST, right before we take the last of our Ultima on a much-anticipated beach trip.

Since there is little to no routine in my summer-life, I'll be posting sporadically... but more often than in the past few weeks. Happy Summer,

Sounds very interesting. I'm a runner, so I'd be interested in sampling these. Summertime runs in southeast GA are muggy and sometimes stifling.

So glad to see you back! I don't often comment, but I love this blog and look forward to each post.
My favorite summer activity is taking walks with our baby in her stroller around the yard. She loves to enjoy nature with us.

Well, To be honest I am not a big fan of summer since I don't like it too hot, but I enjoy going for a nice walk in the evening when it gets a little cooler! :)

We like to ride bikes at Radnor Lake in the summer time b/c it's nice and shady. Too bad the road is all torn up from the flood this year. We may have to wait till next year. Hope to win some of the drinks!

My husband gets a lot of free passes to local attractions through work. They make for great free family time.

We love anything remotely cool! Living in Phoenix during the summer definitely requires "cool" things to do. Our favorite is visiting our AZ Science Center with fun and engaging activities for the kids. Plus, IT'S SCIENCE!!! Who wouldn't love that? ;-)

Ouu those sound yummy. Our favorite thing to do is go to the park, I would say beach but there isn't one here.

I would love to win and try those out. Our favorite activity is going to the zoo and then the lake is a close second.

Gardening and swimming! I have 350 square feet of gardening space on my city lot in Texas. It gets HOT here. We are already seeing highs in the triple digits!!!!

We spend every free minute on our boat at the lake in the summer! We get pretty hot, and it would be great to have a healthy, refreshing drink!

So glad to see you back! We all like to go running in the morning before Josh goes to work (the kids riding in the jogging stroller of course!) We would love to win these healthy drinks! I wonder if the kids version would work like pedialyte during illness?

Our favorite summer activity is anything with water...whether it's swimming, playing in the sprinkler, or just a big foot tub of water! What great fun for the kids!

I really have enjoyed all your information. We are a family of six and we really enjoy camping and fishing during the summer. We do however live in Texas so we do have to work around the heat!

Please don't enter me in the contest because I got some of this from Ultima too.

It sounds like you have been keeping busy! When I noticed that it had been nearly a month since you wrote last I thought that you decided to sstop blogging. I'm glad to hear that you found the time to write something.

Enjoy your summer and stay cool!

Favorite summer activity...anything to do with the water, although now that I'm in VA vs. Florida pools and lakes stay pretty cool all summer long. (Not to rub it in- I know what GA heat feels like!!) We do love gardening and sitting outside on summer evenings and watching the sun set.

I didn't know there was a healthful alternative to the power drinks. Thanks for the heads up and the chance to win!

Well, i shared this with one of my online heath forums & was reamed for it. Their reasoning is that the vitamins used are almost certainly synthetic & so therefore not utilized by the body well.

I didn't see anything at the website about the vitamins used, just a list of what was in this.

Had no idea there was such a product out there! I have been frustrated with the Gatorade/Powerade drinks that are always bought for our soccer team- full of yukky stuff! I am glad to learn about these!
